Mrs. Popper was very athletic; she won the gold medal in trampoline for the Sydney 2000 Olympics! Her prize was sent to her house (besides the gold medal, but she got that too!)

And guess what her prize was; kangaroos, of course! When she got her prize, two weeks after her gold medal victory, she was surprised to see six large boxes in the driveway of her home. She was worried that they had been sent to the wrong address. But, the labels on the boxes said the correct address, to Mrs. Jan Popper 24 W. Jump St. Smallville, CO 55544. They were sent by Fed-Ex from Syndey, Australia!

She lugged the boxes into the house with the help of her husband, who already owned 10 penguins that lived in their " Antarctic " basement. They opened up one box and two young kangaroos hopped out! They opened the other five boxes there were eight more for a total of 10: five male, five female. The other two boxes were full of kangaroo food, call 1-800BUY PETS PICK and dial extension 311 for exotic pet foods department.

Well, Mr. Popper was hoping for something else Antarctic, so they could meet his penguins. Now they would have to get a higher ceiling and a trampoline. Well, the trampoline wasn't so bad, only $200.

But a higher ceiling, ouch. $25,000! Well, they made the ceiling higher, which turned out to be lower than the quote, it was only $20,000, $5,000 less: another addition for the Popper's bedroom and private space! That cost was $10,000. Now the expenses from her prize were up to $30,200!

" The kangaroos are pretty neat, " Mrs. Popper said to her husband one day after about six months after she had owned them. " But food is expensive, and they need to go back to their own habitat before breeding season. Then we'll have more of them! " said Mrs. Popper.

" Well, " said Mr. Popper, " we just sold the babies from my penguins, and we could try a different brand of food. There are cheaper brands out there, you know! " Mr. Popper said to his wife.

And then Mr. Popper said, " We could sell the joeys from your kangaroos just like we sold my baby penguins. I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there that would love to have a kangaroo! "

So, Mrs. Popper kept her kangaroos and her husband kept his penguins. They lived a happy and fulfilled life.

And in case you were wondering, Mrs. Popper's kangaroos kept lots of different things in their pouches for her. Ald all of the joeys found good homes.
