By Katie Everyday for the frog was like torture. You see because every night when his mother would turn out the light he would know that he still had not yet achieved his dream of becoming the first frog actor. He started off with all the hope in the world, but now all hope seemed to be fading. The frog couldn't let anything get in his way. He was determined, and when a frog is determined nothing, nothing will ever get in his way. J.K felt pretty good after that. So good in fact that he decided to take a trip into town. Which is terribly uncommon, because town is such a scary place. That was one of J.K's weaknesses. He hated towns. Never mind that though. J.K was so full of confidence today that nothing seemed to matter. Anyhow that was for the moment, but then he saw the meanest frog at Lilly Pad Elementary, Larry. All of J.K's confidence suddenly and quickly faded. So J.K dashed into the nearest building. Which in all of J.K's luck happened to be a bar. J.K gasped. " This is to much. If anyone sees me they will surely tell my mother and then I'll be dead. " The bar reeked with smoke and stuff J.K couldn't even recognize let a lone identify. He was just about to dash into the bathroom and hide, when something caught his eye. It was a piece of golden paper with some beer stains on it. That didn't bother J.K for he was looking at the big black print at the top of the paper. J.K quickly grabbed the paper and ran. He couldn't read the paper here, but he knew the perfect place to read it. It was just a little ways from here. So he hopped, swam, and did a little of both and before he knew it he was there. He was right under a big tree with so much moss on it, it was just like his bed. If not softer. Also the view was perfect. It was of a pond and it had so many lily pads on it they almost covered the entire thing. Today however, J.K wasn't looking at the pretty view. He was much more entertained at the piece of paper in his hand. He read the heading. He started to shake. Then he read the whole thing and he was so excited that he jumped for joy! You see the article was about a princess trapped in a tower and needed help. It had more too. It said that they were offering a reward for anyone who could find the princess and save her. J.K didn't really think about the task he would have to complete before the reward. He was to busy thinking about the reward that was being offered. The article never guarantied what the reward would be but J.K was sure he would be an actor as soon as he found and rescued the princess. The only part of the article J.K had failed to read was probably most important. He missed the part about the evil lizard, Zard. Even the name brought shivers to almost every person who looked at the paper. It scared them enough not to want to ever go even try save the princess. J.K was so excited after reading the paper he had to go tell his mother. So that's just what he did. He hopped, swam, and did a little of both and he was finally there. He burst through the door. Colliding with his mother who dropped the fly chip cookies on the floor. "What in the world was that for? " exclaimed his mother. "Sorry I didn't mean to. I was so excited to show this to you I guess I wasn't being careful. " "Well if you're so excited to share something with me you better go on and do it. " "Ok mom. " Then J.K told the whole story to his mother even about the bar. J.K just stood there embarrassed. When his mother finally said. "That would explain the smoke smell. " After that J.K felt better but still a little nervous for his mother's answer if he could go or not. Well it took his mother quite a time to figure out an answer, but soon enough she decided and she said he could go. J.K was so happy he ran right upstairs to get his things, for he would leave in the morning. The next day J.K made very little progress. He dawdled a lot; he had not seen this part of the country before. The next day however he made a lot of progress he was just about to call It a night when he heard the sound of a mighty lizard. No doubt it was Zard. It seemed as though Zard was trying to tell the princess something he was screaming at her. J.K ran up the hill to Zard's tower doubting himself every step he took. He was so scared, but he had to do it. He couldn't just leave the princess there at the top of the tower. So he created a distraction. He figured out that some bricks were loose at the bottom of the tower. So he grabbed the bricks and the whole tower came right down. The princess screamed. As she fell into the arms of J.K, and Zard fell into the lake next to the tower. The whole tower fell on top of him. He was dead and the princess and J.K hurried home for J.K to receive his reward. Poor J.K never completely got his dream reward but he learned so much more. J.K's reward turned out to be an enormous batch of fly chip cookies.
