Chapter 1

 "Jack, STOP playing in the mud puddles! Come inside so I can get you cleaned up. "  "OK Mommy, " said Jack.  "Jack, Daddy and I are going out to lunch so Carmen is going to baby-sit you and just because she is your sister you still have to promise to listen to her, " said Mom.  "Oh great " said Jack.  "I heard that! " yelled Carmen who was in her room.  "Now Jack, it won't be that bad, besides Carmen is very fun, " said Mom.  "OK Mommy, " replied Jack.  "Carmen, come out here please! " yelled Mom.  "I'm coming! " Carmen yelled back.  "We'll be home around 2:00, " Mom said.  "Fine with me, " said Carmen,  "Bye Mom and Dad! "  "Bye, bye Mommy and Daddy! " said Jack. As their Mom and Dad's van drove away, Jack said,  "Can we play hide and go seek? "

Chapter 2

 "Sure I'll count and you can go hide. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? " Carmen was peeking, but only because she didn't want to lose track of Jack. She saw him climb into the hamper.  "6, 7, 8, 9, 10 ready or not here I come! " shouted Carmen. Carmen walked down the hall to the hamper.
When she opened the hamper all she saw was dirty laundry. Jack was nowhere to be found! Carmen searched the house from top to bottom, but she couldn't find Jack anywhere! She knew she needed help, so she called her best friends, Malorie, Paula, and Tina.

Chapter 3

Once Malorie, Paula, and Tina got to her house, Carmen told them everything that had just happened.  "We were playing hide and go seek, " explained Carmen,  "and I saw Jack climb into the hamper, so I looked in and he wasn't there! I looked through the whole house, but I couldn't find him. Would you guys help me? "  "Sure " they all answered.
 "Why don't we check the hamper first? " Tina said.  "OK " said everyone else. When they got to the hamper, Malorie lifted the lid, leaned over it, and started to look for Jack. As a little joke, Paula pushed her in. As soon as she fell in she disappeared.
 "We'd better go in after her, " said Carmen.  "Fine then, but you should go first since it's your idea, " said Tina.  "OK, if you say so, " said Carmen.  "No wait! " shouted Paula,  "I'm the one who pushed her in, so I should be the one to have to go in first. " As Paula climbed into the hamper, Carmen said to Tina,  "I'll go in next. " Carmen climbed into the hamper and Tina climbed in right behind her.

Chapter 4

 "Where are we? " asked Tina.  "I'm not sure, " replied Carmen.  "Carmen, your hamper must be a time machine or something because those girls over there are wearing poodle-skirts and they're dancing to Elvis music. We must be in the 50's! " said Malorie.  "Let's go find Jack, " said Carmen.  "It's about 11:30 so we only have two and a half hours until Mom gets home.
They started walking around, but they didn't find Jack, so they kept looking.  "Hey guys come over here! " yelled Carmen.  "I found Jack's shoe! "  "Carmen, is this Jack's shoe! " asked Tina.  "Yes! Where did you find it? " asked Carmen.  "I found it over there by that jukebox, " said Malorie,  "but he must be somewhere else now because we've looked almost everywhere. "  "Why don't we go back into the hamper and see what other place it takes us, but we'd better hurry because it's almost 12:30! " said Carmen. They all climbed back into the hamper to go look for Jack somewhere else.

Chapter 5

 "We must be in the Revolutionary War because there's George Washington and his army shooting at the British soldiers, " said Tina.  "How can you tell? " asked Paula.  "That guy looks exactly like George Washington and those guys over there are wearing red uniforms just like the British wore, " answered Tina.  "Now that hw know what place we are in let's go look for Jack, " said Carmen.
They looked around for Jack, but they still couldn't find him. It was 1:00 and they had to hurry. As they were running searching for Jack Paula tripped on something and fell. As she got up she grabbed the thing she tripped on.
 "Hey Carmen, this must be your brother's other shoe because I don't think that they made Nike shoes in the 1700's, " said Paula.  "And I think I see his sock over there by that horse, " said Tina.  "Let's go get it, " said Malorie. As they were walking over to get Jack's sock Carmen said, " He must have been here, but he must not be here now. "
Tina picked up the sock and said,  "Now we're one step closer to finding your brother. " Suddenly the horse went crazy and started chasing them.  "Run away! " Carmen and Malorie shouted. The crazy horse chased them all the way back to the hamper and Carmen, Malorie, Paula, and Tina all dove into the hamper.

Chapter 6

 "Wow! Look at those glaciers, we must be in the Ice Age! " Carmen said.  "It's 1:30, so we need to look fast, " said Tina.  "Look over there you guys! Those look like Jack's footprints, " said Carmen.  "Let's follow them! " They all followed the footprints.  "The footprints stop here, " said Malorie,  "but where Jack's footprints end, some wooly mammoth footprints start. Let's follow them too. " They all followed the wooly mammoth footprints. As they were walking they happened to catch up to the wooly mammoth and you wouldn't believe who was riding on it's back.
 "Hi Carmen! " shouted the thing that was riding on the wooly mammoth. It was Jack!  "Jack get down here right now! " Carmen yelled.  "You have to catch me first, " yelled Jack.  "Run mammoth run! " The wooly mammoth started running.
 "Stop that mammoth! " hollered Tina. They all started chasing the wooly mammoth. They ran and they ran until they had the wooly mammoth cornered.  "Come on down Jack it's time to go home now, " said Carmen.  "Ok Carmen, " said Jack.

Chapter 7

Once they got Jack down they all walked back to the hamper and climbed in. This time the hamper took them home. Right as they were climbing out of the hamper Mom and Dad walked into the house. Quickly Malorie, Paula, and Tina ran out the back door and back to their houses.
 "Did you have a good time? " asked Dad.  "Yeah Carmen and I played hide and go seek and I rode on a? " said Jack right before Carmen put her hand over his mouth.  "Yeah we had lots of fun, " said Carmen.  "Then we should have you baby sit more often, " said Mom and Dad.  "Oh brother, " said Carmen.
